We're thrilled to announce that Tony Sparks has joined the company as Knoxville branch manager.

Tony will oversee daily operations of the branch and will collaborate with territory managers to acquire new customers in Knoxville and the surrounding counties. He will work out of our Knoxville location at 608 Business Park Lane.

Comfort Supply has made a big footprint in the Knoxville area in a short amount of time. We are grateful that Tony will have the opportunity to pursue not only some of our more established dealers in East Tennessee, but will also have the chance to meet new dealers and help grow the Ruud brand.

Tony most recently worked for M&A Supply Company, Inc. where he served as the operations manager for the Tri-Cities area and then for Knoxville.

Tony comes to Comfort Supply with nine years of experience in the HVAC industry, and excellent knowledge of the Knoxville market. His enthusiasm and knowledge of the product will be vital to our expansion in Knoxville. We’re excited to have him on the team.

Comfort Supply Offers EGIA Membership & Financing for HVAC Dealers

We are pleased to announce that Comfort Supply has partnered with the Electric & Gas Industries Association (EGIA) to offer new financing and a contractor benefit program for our customers. We will be EGIA’s first Energy Partner group member in Tennessee.

By providing EGIA membership and benefits for our customers, we can offer contractors one of the hottest financing packages out there. EGIA’s GEOSmart Financing Clearinghouse takes the hassle out of financing and helps our customers get the advice that they need in one convenient location. Coupled with the kickoff of our contractor benefit program, we’re truly excited about the growth opportunities this partnership opens up for our dealers.

EGIA is a nationwide nonprofit organization with over 15,000 independent members and affiliated companies. Through its Energy Partners program with manufacturers, distributors, utilities and government, EGIA provides member contractors the tools, training and networking to accelerate their business growth and profitability. EGIA also supports utilities and government in achieving their goals related to the development of sustainable markets for energy efficiency and renewable energy products and services.

Dealers who enroll in EGIA will have access to the Financing Clearinghouse and GEOSmart consumer financing. This provides a wide selection of consumer financing packages, including no payment, no interest programs, government backed loans and financing for credit challenged customers.

EGIA membership also includes access to the Leadership Academy, a monthly seminar series taught by industry experts. Seminar topics include sales, marketing and operations best practices for contractors, for example:
  • Diversify or die: Strategies to diversify and grow your business
  • Is your price right? Exploring pricing strategies
  • Repositioning your business as a whole house specialist

As an added bonus for dealers, Comfort Supply will cover customers’ $250 EGIA membership fees until December 2013.

Contractors interested in learning more about the Comfort Supply/EGIA partnership can visit EGIA.org/ComfortSupply. There you can find details about available member benefits, instructions for membership signup and applications for the financing program.

The program kicks off Sept. 1, 2012.

Comfort Supply joins dealer Bill Stalker to celebrate the opening of the Isaac Litton High School Alumni Association

Last Saturday, members of the Isaac Litton High School Alumni Association came together to celebrate and dedicate the new Isaac Litton Alumni Center and Gymnasium. Bill Stalker, class of 1970 and owner of Trinity Construction in Mt. Juliet, played a large role in the reconstruction of the building. As one of Comfort Supply’s trusted dealers, we were on hand to support and celebrate with Bill. As were Mayor Karl Dean, Congressman Jim Cooper and House Speaker Beth Harwell, who joined the alumni association board members for the ribbon cutting.

Harwell and Congressman Jim Cooper with the Isaac Litton Alumni Association board members
Bill led the fundraising and renovation project for the new center and gym, helping to raise $1.7 million. Comfort Supply was honored to provide the HVAC equipment for the facilities and to support the rebuilding of this historic, community building.

The renovation of the center also made it possible for the nonprofit, afterschool program Backfield in Motion (BIM) to move its headquarters to Isaac Litton. BIM combines academics and athletics to help Nashville inner-city boys reach their highest potential. It’s with thanks to Bill and the rest of the alumni association that this building can now serve as a safe place for local children to participate in supervised, recreational programs.

We were thrilled to be able to help and participate in this great cause and event. We wholeheartedly congratulate Bill in fostering the renovation, and seeing this project through from start to finish.

Join Us in Welcoming Mel McNeer Our New Geo Auditor

We are happy to announce that energy and geothermal expert Mel McNeer has joined Comfort Supply.

Mel will lead our geothermal efforts, getting the word out about new geothermal technologies and products and maintaining an inventory of geothermal equipment to support dealers. He will work out of our Knoxville location at 608 Business Park Lane. There’s a potentially large market for geothermal supplies in Knoxville, which is only going to continue to grow as the housing market comes back.

Mel most recently worked for East Coast Metals as a geothermal sales engineer. He also has a background in manufacturing management.

Here at Comfort Supply, we think it's important to find ways to continue promoting and educating vendors about geothermal, as it’s one of the primary industries still benefiting from government rebates and incentives. Mel in his new position will help us spearhead this initiative.

McNeer has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from West Virginia Institute of Technology (now part of West Virginia University). He also has an MBA from Purdue University.

Thanks Mel, and welcome to Comfort Supply.

G3: The World's First Straight-Through Geothermal Heat Pump

We are proud to announce the addition of the G3 modular geothermal system to our product line. Created by GeoMaster, LLC and part of GeoExcel’s geothermal systems, G3 is the world’s first straight-through, multi-position modular geothermal heat pump.

G3 is field adaptable into seven configurations: left, right, up, down, split, horizontal and straight-through. Since the product can be configured onsite, it fits many applications where typical geothermal heat pumps would not.

The system is very flexible and easy to transport. This lets contractors carry a minimum number of products to service all customers. It eliminates unnecessary stocking of equipment and is great for the retrofit market.

It’s a three-piece unit, with fan, compressor and A-Coil sections that have multiple air flow configurations. The G3 is the only product in the market with a straight-through option.

The system comes in three-, four- and five-ton units, and is outfitted with ECM2 fan motors, a Copeland UltraTech compressor and circuit boards with diagnostics. “The compressor is in the middle of the unit as opposed to the bottom, which makes extremely quiet compared to traditional units,” Hammond said.

The product is ARI rated and Energy Star endorsed. It is manufactured by Bard Manufacturing Company in Bryan, Ohio. To learn more, contact your Comfort Supply sales rep.
